About Firethorn Golf Club
Firethorn Golf Club is regarded as one of the real jewels in golf. The concept for Firethorn began in the mid-to-late 1970s. Land was acquired to begin the development which was to include a housing component.
In 1982, Dick Youngscap, the driving force behind Firethorn, persuaded Pete Dye, a world renowned golf course architect, to visit the site. Pete fell in love with the topography and agreed to be the course architect provided Dick could secure a critical tract of land that became holes #16, #17 and #18. The land was purchased and construction began. The wonderful golf course that resulted has received national acclaim.
